a poem
Right now, it is enough
to feel the rays of the sun
enough to breathe here alone
enough to travel with the sparrow’s call
into the wide-open meadow
or thrum with the hum
of the circling bumblebee.
Soon, I will step up and out
and into the day once more
to strive and fail, feel and forgive,
love and love
and love again
but for now it is enough
to close my eyes
receive the generous breeze
in my open palms
and give nothing in return
