What we can learn by walking it...today

Normally I post on Sundays, but this one deserved to be published a day earlier, in honor of World Labyrinth Day TODAY. It starts at 1pm no matter what timezone you’re in, creating a rolling wave of contemplative unity across the globe.

Labyrinthine Life

Some days
you will stride with purpose,
pressing forward, ever forward,
each footfall divining answers to
unspoken questions;

other days
you will loiter to pick up the tiniest twig
convinced most certainly
it is impeding your progress

or you will stop altogether,
enchanted by the play of light
that dances at your feet.

On this odyssey, you will do well
to remember: shortcuts do not exist, and

the center holds Forever

even when your path has turned
to obscure it; 

you will share the labyrinth
with others—
first ahead, then behind, yet

neither matters, for this realm
brooks no competition;
time’s way will bend
into illusions of distance, parting you

from loved ones,
then narrowing to instant reunion;
and finally, just when you think
this is endless, it will end
right where it all began—
