God bless you Mary - persistence and black humour in the face of would-be tyranny will save the world as it has done many times before. So good that America won, and that there remains still a heroic spirit in many of her people. In this wonderful combination of satire and history lessosn, I feel resonance with so many of your other pieces, from the recent 'Does it yet Wave?' to 'The Allure of Easy' and the reticence of those who don't like the struggle of 'Earth' (both those last connected with the temptation to bow to the kind of Stockholm Syndrome you describe here). And on to 'Eyes to the SKy' (I was not born to grovel), and 'Who are the Unconscious ones'?

Let us hope that when the situation becomes such a grotesque parody of reality and truth it makes the choices starkly visible and drives the counter-movement more strongly - again as it has done before. The fat lady will not sing until we win. (That's 'Apocoloptism).'

Until then, crank up the satire and black humour, ridicule the tyrants and strike up the Star Spangled Banner!

Wow, Michael -- you've woven together a tapestry of my work in such an unexpected way! You're so right, I keep returning to the same themes of subservience, power, and freedom because they are forefront to my entire experience as a citizen of the US and a human spirit. Thank you for your sweet support -- whenever I feel overwhelmed, you always seem to find just the right words. Bless you, too!! xox

it's a fine piece of satire but of course MUCH of it, MOST of it iz true! How crazy that a spoof capturin' something so mock-a-bull reveals a reality teevee show which we are livin' in--an' payin' fer with our taxes. Ouch! Some truths today seem to be "not" self evident--like our stained flag napkin that needs a good warshin!

This is so brilliant and funny. Thank you to Visceral Tonika for recommending. Favorite terms: NeoLoyalists, equal-ish and Liberty-Lite™. The original Declaration of Dependence is another example that nothing we make up can be as blatantly sycophantic as the historical truth. I would contend that the Constitution, taking away from States the ability to issue internal currency and making them subordinate to the money-powers, was the Declaration of Dependence 2.0. In point: https://thirdparadigm.substack.com/p/the-constitutional-convention-coup.

Thank you, Tereza! The past few years for me have been a continuing replay of the moment in the Wizard of Oz when Toto pulls the curtain back to reveal the sham Wizard. Over and over and over, ideas I took for granted as truths are being whisked aside. Your contention does it again! (As does your Substack, which is excellent.) Glad you're here.

Thanks for the historical artifact AND the disturbing update of where we unfortunately find ourselves in the present. Made me laugh and sad at the same time!

WOW! I wonder how many Americans know about the Declaration of Dependence.. I surely didn't. Thanks, Mary, for a most entertaining description of the sad state of our government.

Feeling a trifle persnickity this am. Here comes the spelling police: is "are we right" not one word, spelled "areweright?".

🤣🤣🤣 Most excellent. Never heard of the Declaration of Dependence before this am!!!

Whoa. Did you miss anything?

You included so many new things to me, it will take hours to follow the links, and more hours to suss out that question, which I suspect the answer will be "no".

If your conversational skills are even a fraction of your writing / thinking skills ... now a coveted a member of a growing goup of substack writers I'd most like to kick back with a glass of wine, and chat". Along with a few others in such a scenario, one sip, and I would be happy to just kick back and listen while you all erect the ramparts and lead the charge.

Much thanks for this Mary.

Will read it more than once, and keep it in a "for reference" file.

Warm regards,

steve
